The One Minute Insomnia Tip

Dec 23, 2007
When you are about to go to sleep, you might be thinking that there are so many different things you can do to avoid having trouble sleeping. That is the problem - you think too much. You need to start taking action, and by that I mean quick action that is not time consuming. So here it is, folks. The one minute insomnia tip involves three quick and easy steps that will have you headed to a wonderful world of dreams in no time...sixty seconds, to be exact. Silence, sanctuary, serenity are all you need at bedtime.

Silence

It does not take long to get rid of the distractions that often plague you at nighttime, and account for much of your restlessness. Your house is full of noises and lights and people and so many nuisances that will continually disrupt your pattern of sleep. But, it takes a matter of seconds to turn off your radio or TV, close the door to shut out that noisy refrigerator or radiator, draw the blinds or drapes to get rid of those blaring street lights or moonlight, and put on blinders or put in ear filters if necessary. This is not rude or silly or anything else except absolutely necessary. You need to eliminate as many excuses as possible for why you are not getting the proper amount of rest every night.

Sanctuary

You may not realize it, or want to admit it, but that dingy room of yours needs a complete and utter makeover. While you may not have to call Ty Pennington on this one, there are a few things you can do that will not take long at all before you turn in for the night. In order to prevent insomnia, your room should be incredibly welcoming and comforting and have that overall appeal that makes you want to lie down there for eight hours every night. If something is out of sorts then you will not feel relaxed, and will tend to allow your mind to wander, or get up frequently during the night. Put those clothes and other things on the floor in their proper places, spray the sheets using a little aromatherapy to produce that calming effect, and put on attire that will not be binding as you sleep. Now you are almost ready for rest.

Serenity

Everyone needs a moment of peace, and this becomes incredibly important as you are ready to turn in for the night. Whatever it is that helps you calm your mind and body you need to implement on a regular basis so you can get a good night's sleep. Many people like to do nice soothing stretching exercises to bring the body to a restful state and make it feel less tense. Some people might choose to write some thoughts down to clear their head and not have a cloudy mind as they are trying to sleep. Or perhaps a good way of preventing insomnia takes a more spiritual approach, and you find that prayer or meditation really help to center you and make you ready for sleep.

Ok, this may take slightly more than sixty seconds, but it sure is quick and painless!
