Are network marketers sinking? It's a common question these day.

Most multi level marketers and direct sales entrepreneurs are sinking in their business. They are missing valuable networking skills that could keep them afloat in a competitive market.

There is a lot of buzz about what works best. Marketers often debate about old school vs. new school methods. It's all rather opinionated. Nothing can take the place of connecting personally with others, but combine that with the right people finding you and this could greatly increase your profits and change the direction of your business.

Most MLM companies train you on networking and finding prospects. Make a list, talk to family and friends and use the three feet rule, etc. What about the person who doesn't have a list, or who has gone though their list quickly and stalls out right away? How do they build a business?

The marketing component that is frequently left out of MLM training programs is how to help people find you. Learn to market where people can find you and you will have the upper hand. You supply the information and anyone interested in the opportunity will be able to contact you and sign up under you.

People who find you are already in the qualifying stage. In other words, they are in the pre-sale process. They are pre-sold on the idea before they search and come across your site. This makes them a more qualified prospect or customer. It takes half of the work out of it for you because you don't have to waste valuable time talking them into the opportunity.

In order to pre-sell, you must be in position where they can find you. More people search the Internet for information than anywhere else, so it's also the first place you need to start your marketing efforts.

That's where you bring old school and new school together. It's your marketing.

Learning to market on the Internet can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. Sorting though the hype and finding good companies that offer the right service can be time consuming, but it will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.

There are three basic things you will need when getting started.
1. Create your own website. Company websites are not designed to bring you potential customers. You need a personal site where you have more control.
2. Get a domain name for your site.
3. Set up an auto responder to follow-up with your leads.
