New Year's Resolutions And Natural Weight Loss

It's that time of year when millions of people resolve to make this year the year that they finally lose weight. Natural weight loss plans, diet pills and potions, exercise equipment and videos, and gym memberships are purchased at record rates during January every year. By February, most weight loss resolutions have fallen by the wayside and have given way to the return of poor eating habits and a lack of exercise.

So what happens? What changes between the beginning of January and the end of the weight loss programs by February? Why are so few people able to stick to their weight loss programs for any longer than a few weeks?

Our minds begin to work against our weight loss goals. Most people of course do want to lose weight, but the problem is that subconsciously they want to continue to eat unhealthy food and be lazy even more. The mind then works towards what they want the most by sabotaging their weight loss plan. "A couple of cookies just this one time can't hurt." "I can exercise tomorrow." And then they wind up cheating on their weight loss programs more and more until they are cheating all the time and the weight loss program has no chance of working.

You see, our minds have been programmed to want certain foods and to want to engage in certain unhealthy behaviors. Our minds have also been programmed to believe that healthy food tastes bad, or that exercise is painful. The good news is that although most of that programming happened unconsciously, there are ways we can take control and consciously re-program our minds to work with us on our weight loss goals rather than to sabotage our efforts.

There are many methods to do this, from the techniques of Anthony Robbins, to the Sedona Method, to Emotional Freedom Technique, to self hypnosis. With some time and effort, any or all of these methods can be directed at helping you adopt the healthy lifestyle necessary to lose weight once and for all. Through working on your mind and your body, natural weight loss is within your reach.
