The Changes To Vending Machines Due To Technology

Jan 4, 2008
Shopping for the holidays is something I love to do, so me and my friend were out enjoying just that. Instead of searching all over the facility for each other when we are done though we just wait outdoors for each other. I decided to go over to a vending machine to get a cold drink while I waited.

I was immediately impressed as I had never seen this particular concept for a vending machine. It only gave out bottled drinks and there was quite a large selection of them to choose from. There was a number pad on it and after entering the number of the drink I wanted part of the equipment moved up and over to get it.

During the entire transfer of the drink I purchased, the bottle of soda was never turned sideways or upside down. I was able to open it without worrying that it had been shaken up. All of us have opened a drink at one time or another and ended up wearing part of it. With this ingenious technology behind a vending machine though it definitely reduces that risk.

This was quite a busy vending machine that day in just the 20 or so minutes that I sat there waiting for my friend to finish shopping. People of all ages were going to that particular machine to make a purchase. The older style of vending machines surrounding it were just left alone.

I was so impressed with this vending machine concept that I gave my friend a dollar and told her to go use it to get a drink. She told me that I was easily impressed but had to also admit that she thought it was cool too. We were reminded of it later on when we saw a vending machine ad at the movies. In it, small characters represented the moving parts inside of a vending machine.

I think many vending machine business owners are excited about this new vending machine concept. Some of them will rush out to buy them but I am sure they are expensive. The novelty of them will soon wear off and then you may be stuck with a high dollar vending machine they struggle to pay for.

Yet this type of vending machine could offer a significant increase in people buying from them. Something to think about though is the cost of repairing such as machine. There are definitely going to be some new concepts to learn compared to those other models of machines that have been around for a while.

From what I saw with traffic to this particular vending machine in that short period of time though, people are very interested in it. The novelty may soon wear off those and that can lead to trouble for those that have invested in them. Yet they may be the vending machine of the future and what we will continue to see offered out there.
