Choosing The Right Plastic Surgery Injections

Jan 5, 2008
Looking younger is a goal many people want to achieve - and today, you have many different plastic surgery options to reach that goal. From facelifts to laser resurfacing, there are tons of ways to make you look your best. If you don't like the idea of a long recovery time however, there is another option.

There are many different substances that can be injected into your face in order to make you look younger - and only a board certified plastic surgeon can tell you just which ones are the correct substances for you. Be aware that not all of the injectables will work on all of the problem areas.

One popular plastic surgery injectable that has been talked about for years is collagen. While not as popular today, many people have heard about this substance - which is naturally occurring in the human body. Collagen is most commonly injected into the lips to plump them up, making them larger.

The most common of these surgery-free plastic surgery techniques is Botox. This popular injection is made from the botulism toxin, and it is injected into patients who are worried about wrinkles - particularly in the brow line. This injection freezes the nerves in the area.

Another popular cosmetic plastic surgery injectable is Botox. Derived from the botulism toxin, this injectable has the ability to paralyze facial muscles where it is injected. It is most often injected into the brow line, where it serves to smooth out the muscles of the brow.

There are other plastic surgery injections that can be used to treat the signs of aging without requiring a facelift, or any cutting at all. These injections are far more friendly to the body, because no anesthetic is needed in order to perform the procedure - just a few simple injections.

Restylane is another injectable plastic surgery item that can help with wrinkles. It consists of hyaluronic acid - a compound which can help fill in areas of the skin that are wrinkled due to age. This substance is most often used in areas around the mouth and lips, to fill in lines that form here.

There are other injectable plastic surgery items - collagen, and other chemicals and fillers that can be used to plump lips, fill in other wrinkles and smooth the texture of your face. All of these treatments can be discussed with a board certified plastic surgeon, who can let you know if they are right for you.

Make sure to consult with a plastic surgeon who has a lot of experience with these injectable substances before getting any of this work done, and research your options before getting an injection. While easier than surgery, there are still risks - so make sure only a doctor performs the procedure.
