Get A Glowing Wedding Day Complexion With Skin Fitness

Jan 9, 2008
Most wedding checklists, planners, and reminders don't discuss your physical or skin fitness. Most of us could use everything from waxing to spray tans, while the lucky ones may only need a little extra rouge.

If you do need more than rouge, then this is your wedding day skin fitness checklist.

Direct sunlight: Avoid it, starting today Obviously, skin cancer and wrinkles are serious downsides to sun exposure, however, protecting yourself from sunlight is important for the big day too. Freshly tanned skin will shine in pictures and weathered skin is hard to disguise with make-up. Freckles and a sunburn will be obvious.

Four months out: Facial Under no circumstances should you just have one facial a few days before the wedding. If you do, could have a break out. Instead, schedule one facial a month for several months before your big day. The last of which will be a little over a week before your big day. This guarantees no unanticipated break outs as well as healthy, hydrated, glowing skin.

Six weeks out: Waxing Most of us need a good wax every six weeks. Like a facial, don't try it for the first time the week before the wedding. You could have a reaction to the products or you could be unhappy with the shape of your eyebrows.

Four weeks out: Makeup trials There are many salons and aestheticians that do make-up for brides and bridesmaids. If you choose this route, be sure to do a trial run and photograph yourself to be sure the colors and style work for you.

The tan: Spray it on three weeks out See avoiding direct sunlight above. Try spray tanning (don't do the real thing), and try it a few weeks out so you can photograph yourself and be sure you like the way you look. It doesn't work for everyone and so if you don't like it, this will give the color enough time to fade. If you do like the way you look you will have time to reapply, but be sure it is four or five days before your rehearsal dinner. Any closer to the date and you run the risk of having the color come off on your clothes.

Two weeks out: Know your products At this point you should not experiment with new skin products. Avoid breakouts or allergic reactions by sticking with the tried and true cosmetics and products.

Get plenty of sleep: One week out Get at least seven to eight hours of sleep every night. Although it's obvious, this is a critical step in your wedding day skin fitness. The bags under your eyes and the lack of color on your cheeks will make your fatigue obvious.
