The Viral Power of the One Time Offer

Although a One Time Offer is a great sales tactic, it does not always have to be a sales message. As a matter of fact, you can use it to generate even more traffic. Instead of redirecting your subscribers to a OTO page for a product purchase, appeal to the same sense of urgency by offering additional bonuses if referring three friends.

Be sure to indicate, however, that they can only get these additional bonuses within the next five minutes (or a designated amount of time) if they include names of their friends and their email addresses. Once the time expires, so does the chance for them to get the bonuses.

This is a great way to get targeted traffic. Your autorepsonder sends an email to the friends of new subscribers telling them that their friend recommended you contact them. In this introductory email, give the friends a compelling reason to visit your site and subscribe.

Another thing you can do is offer bonuses for immediately filling out a survey. This helps you get to know your target audience right away. You can question them about their problems, their wants, their needs, their desires. Find out what they want, then go get it and give it to them. It's a great way to create products that you know will sell.

The important thing to remember about the OTO is that it needs to be just that: a ONE TIME offer. If your subscribers pass on the original deal, they need to be able to trust that they can't just come back to that page and get the same deal when they are ready to buy.

If these offers are available anywhere else or for longer than you say, you'll lose that crucial sense of urgency that makes the OTO's effective in the first place. Even worse, you'll lose your credibility. Your subscribers won't be able to trust that you'll take offers away. If they can't trust you, they won't buy from you. If they don't buy from you, you go out of business.

You do, however, want to meet people where they are and always provide various options. Your subscribers are in different places in the buying cycle, so you want to reach out and touch them in as many places as possible. That's how you help them and add value to their lives. And that's how you get wealthy.
