Finding Pure Hoodia

Aug 17, 2007
You may have heard a lot recently in the media about a hot new weight loss supplement called hoodia. Hoodia gordonii is a prickly succulent that resembles a cactus. Pure hoodia gordonii is only grown in South Africa, on farms belonging to the San bushmen tribes.

Hoodia works by affecting the hypothalamus much like glucose does. It gives your brain the signal that you're full. Clinical testing revealed that pure
hoodia is thousands of times more effective in controlling appetite than glucose.

The San people, also known as bushmen, have used hoodia for thousands of years to suppress hunger during lengthly hunting expeditions. The South African laboratory studied hoodia for 30 years before isolating the component found in hoodia gordonii stems called P57 that is responsible for the appetite suppression properties. Once they found this, they licensed
the patent for it to the Phytopharm corporation for millions of dollars.

With all the different products on the market claiming to contain pure hoodia, it's hard to know which one to choose. Make sure that the hoodia you choose is grown in Africa, not other countries like Mexico or China.
You want to choose pure hoodia that helps support the San tribes, who grow it on their family operated farms.

Pure hoodia supplements often contain other ingredients that work in conjunction to help you shed pounds. Some of the ingredients you may encounter in pure hoodia supplements include:

Cinnamon bark: Cinnamon bark is used to increase the rate at which the body burns fat. Cinnamon bark has also been shown to encourage healthy glucose and cholesterol levels in the blood.

Green tea: Green tea has been used in Asia for centuries to aid digestion and speed metabolism. Green tea also contains healthy antioxidants, which help eradicate dangerous free radicals in the body.

Ginseng: Used since ancient times, ginseng is a powerful herb that helps increase energy and vitality. Ginseng has also been said to relieve stress and encourage all-over good health.

Guarana: Guarana is an ingredient found in today's popular "energy drinks" such as Red Bull. Guarana works in the same way as caffeine, imparting energy and helping your body burn calories and shed fat more quickly.

Citrus Aurantium: Also called bitter orange, citrus aurantium is used to stimulate the fat assimilation process.

Now that you know more about pure hoodia and some of the other ingredients that supplements may contain, the next step is to comparison shop. There are a wide variety of products available in different forms such as pill and liquid. A quick Internet search can lead you to countless manufacturers offering pure hoodia products at affordable prices.
