How Do Anti-Aging Creams Work

Jan 12, 2008
Ask any woman who has ever browsed the makeup and skin care aisles of the local pharmacy or retailer, and chances are she'll admit that she would like to know just how do anti-aging creams work. They all promise to do so much - erase wrinkles, reduce puffiness and tiny lines, and restore skin's youthful glow. And they usually promise to do all this with just a few applications! Are any of these claims true? If so, is there any difference between the many products? Yes, just how do anti-aging creams work, if at all?

The Ingredients Are Key

When considering just how do anti-aging creams work, you need to compare the ingredients of each as some will do their promised job better than others, and the ingredients make all the difference in the world in this regard.

The skin of the face usually shows signs of aging because of a lack of nutrients and moisture, both of which become naturally depleted as we age. When the skin is not getting the proper nourishment from the foods we're eating or because of our body's cells naturally breaking down, it will start in show in terms of wrinkles, sagging, and blotchiness. When considering just how do anti-aging creams work, you need to remember that the best creams will be those that add these nourishments back and give the skin its missing moisture. Harsh or unnatural chemicals just won't do the same job as natural vitamins and minerals and the essential oils that skin needs.

Also it's important to remember that the face is exposed to pollutants and irritants every day. These things damage the cellular structure of the skin. Anti-oxidants refer to agents that help the body fight these damaging elements. When thinking of how do anti-aging creams work, you should remember that the face in particular needs these anti-oxidants. Other parts of your body are covered up from the elements, but your face and hands are consistently exposed all throughout the year.

How Do Anti-Aging Creams Work on Mature Skin?

But what if your skin is already showing the signs of age, what then? Do these creams have any use for women that are already of a particular age?

There are many that actually can work wonders for women who already have wrinkles and other signs of aging. How do anti-aging creams work on mature skin? They work by using these same ingredients as a way for the skin to rebuild and repair itself. While deep wrinkles cannot be corrected by anything other than a doctor, many signs of aging can be lessened. Skin can look brighter and more radiant if it receives vital nourishment, and tiny lines around the mouth and face can be lessened as well.

So if you're curious as to just how do anti-aging creams work, remember that the ingredients are the most important part of the equation. Vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, and other natural elements are important to healthy and vibrant skin, no matter what age you're at.
