New Value Index Published To Rate Quality Multivitamins

Jan 14, 2008
Maximum Vitality provides the best value among 1,600 multivitamins in the U.S. and Canada based on independent, verifiable, published scientific study.

A new analysis of top-quality multivitamins has been published. In it, a new multivitamin earned the honor of being the best value multivitamin in the U.S. and Canada. This honor is based on the Value Index - composed of measures for quality, price, and compliance, and just what the Doctor ordered for the fast-growing baby-boomer population.

Quality was independently measured in the recently released 4th Edition of the Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements by Lyle MacWilliam, where Maximum Vitality was awarded a 5-Star rating, reserved for the top 1% of multivitamins in the U.S. and Canada. Compliance, reflecting the likelihood that patients will follow their Doctors recommendations was inversely related to the number of pills in the recommended daily dose. Price was factored into the analysis, with the lowest price representing the best value. Finally, Doctors have independent and verifiable scientific validation for a specific multivitamin recommendation for their patients.

The Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements evaluated 1,600 multivitamins in the U.S. and Canada, based on a blended standard created from the recommendations of 12 nutrition experts, and based on 18 challenging criteria applied to 48 nutrients.

The "blended standard" for rating multivitamins was created from the independent recommendations of Dr. Earl Mindell, Dr. Richard Passwater, Ray Strand, M.D., Julian Whitaker, M.D., Robert Atkins, M.D., Nicholas Perricone, M.D., Life Extension Foundation and other experts. Eighteen criteria such as completeness, potency, antioxidant support, bone health, heart health, liver health (detoxification), metabolic health, ocular health, methylation support, lipotropic factors, inflammation control, glycation control, phenolic compounds, and potential toxicities were used to evaluate the 1,600 formulations.

A Doctor is always concerned with compliance - a term used to define the rate that patients follow (comply with) the Doctor's recommendations. For if a patient does not follow their Doctor's recommendation because it is inconvenient or expensive, then the patient receives little or no benefit. One of the multivitamins rated in the top 1% requires a patient to take 34 pills per day, although most are in the 8 to 10 pill range. Compliance for dosages which require a patient to take that many pills per day is historically low. Maximum Vitality achieves the same 5-Star level of excellence with a recommended dose of only two tablets per day, enabling a high compliance rate.

Maximum Vitality is also the least expensive multivitamin in the top-quality 5-star category. The next lowest cost Doctor-recommended multivitamin is priced 90% higher than Maximum Vitality. There are, of course, very inexpensive multivitamin products available in the market. However these cheap products, some of which are the most popular and widely advertised - One-A-Day®, Centrum®, Kirkland® (CostCo brand), for example - are ranked 0 to ˝ on the Comparative Guide scale of 0 to 5, with 5 being highest.

The Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements is a 190-page softcover book. Published in 2007 by Northern Dimension Publishing, the 4th edition discusses the growing need for supplementation, new science which supports the value of nutrition in preventing degenerative disease, oxidative stress and antioxidants, inflammation, the safety of nutritional supplements, optimal nutrition versus current government standards, helping people maintain good health and even slowing the aging process. The blended standard is thoroughly discussed and graphical comparisons are presented for the 163 multivitamins (10% of the 1,600 evaluated) that rate 3.0 and above on their scale of 0.0 to 5.0.

"Maximum Vitality provides the best value of all multivitamins in the U.S. and Canada," commented Howard Simon, President of Rejuvenation Science. "No other multivitamin with a 5-star rating achieves the blended standard with such a sophisticated formulation of only two tablets per day and at such a reasonable cost." The retail price is $29.98 for a one-month supply. Medical professionals may carry the product in their office or establish a Doctor's Web Dispensary for internet-based supplement dispensing.

Maximum Vitality contains high doses of standard vitamins in their most bioavailable forms. It also contains efficacious doses of expensive antioxidants such as coenzyme Q10, alpha-lipoic acid, vitamin E tocotrienols, lutein, lycopene and astaxanthin.

"Patients and Doctors alike love Maximum Vitality, for a subtle energy lift, and the comfort of knowing they are taking care of themselves and their families," added Roxanne Fried, VP of Customer Support.
