How Many People Know Your Bed & Breakfast Exists?

Customers are golden for any type of business and a bed & breakfast is no exception. Empty rooms mean loss of profits and if that is happening several times a week you may need to implement some changes while you still have the opportunity to do so. You need to get the word out about your business in a way that makes people very excited to come check it out for themselves.

You may not think a small business can do well with a website but that is wrong. So many people go online to look for a place to stay when they travel. If they don't have the chance to find your business information here then they will just make a reservation somewhere else. Millions of people go online each day to perform various tasks so you need to get your share of that traffic.

The website needs to be very professional looking as well as inviting. You want guests to be very impressed by what they see. Give them details about what you will be offering them during their stay. Include pictures to help them get a realistic picture of what the bed & breakfast looks like inside and out. This will encourage people to secure a reservation rather than just showing up and hoping for the best.

Hotels are the biggest competition for a bed & breakfast business so think like they do when it comes to advertising. Use all the same sources so that people will find your information when they are looking for a place to stay. They may not have even thought about a bed & breakfast but once they see your ad they will likely change their mind and go for it instead of a regular hotel room.

Local advertising is very important as well. You may not think so but it can really help increase your number of guests. Some people just want a new place to hang out for the night and your place could be perfect. People come to town all the time to visit, for business, or to attend special events. Those they know in the area can easily recommend your bed & breakfast to them.

Get your guests to help you spread the word about your business as well. Many of them will do this in various ways such as posting reviews and telling their friends about the experience. You can entice them by offering them discounts on rooms when people they know call to book a reservation with you.

You can also extend offers to those that are regular guests. For example you can offer them the fifth night for free in any calendar year. You can also offer discounts for those that frequently stay with you. Do all you can to get people to be aware of what you have to offer.

The fact is that you may have a wonderful business in every sense of the word but very few guests. You have to get the message out so people know it is there. Be creative with your methods of spreading the word. Advertising isn't always cheap but it is generally quite effective. You want your bed & breakfast business to be doing very well from the start so give it a fighting chance.
