Get The Truth About Refilling Inkjet Cartridges And Save Money

Jan 18, 2008
Inkjet printers use an unbelievable amount of ink. It seems like every time you try to print something, the little warning box pops up on your screen telling you that the printer is once again out of ink. And that ink is not cheap! That is why so many people opt for refilling inkjet cartridges instead of buying new ones.

No one enjoys spending all that money on new inkjet cartridges, so why does anyone do it all? Well, some people don't realize that there is a cheaper alternative. Other people realize that they could save money by buying inkjet printer refills, but they have heard negative things about them so they just keep buying the more expensive new cartridges.

But most of the negative things that people believe about refilling cartridges are actually true. So let's clear up some of the confusion by explaining some of the most common misconceptions.

1. You Have To Take Classes To Learn How To Refill Cartridges.

You do not need to be a certified technician in order to refill your cartridges. Anyone can do it by simply following the instructions that come with each printer refill kit. Although inkjet printer refills can seem a little difficult at first, the process really is pretty simple. It is just like anything else, it becomes easier the more times you do it.

You can get printer refill kits at any office supply store, just make sure that you bring your printer information (make, model, etc.) with you so that you get the right kit. You can also get refill kits online, and they are usually cheaper online than they are in regular office stores.

2. I Can't Get Anyone To Refill The Cartridges For Me

You do not ever have to refill your cartridges yourself if you don't want to. When your cartridges are empty, just take them to a store that specializes in refilling ink cartridges. There are plenty of stores that offer this service, you just need to look around for one.

Or, you can just send them back to the original manufacturer and have them refill the cartridges for you. Most manufacturers don't even charge for this service, so not only can you outsource this task, you can outsource it for free.

3. It Takes Forever To Refill An Inkjet Cartridge

Refilling inkjet cartridges really does not take that much time. While it may take a little bit longer the first time you do it, the process is actually pretty quick and should take no longer than fifteen of twenty minutes of your time. If you take it to a store to be refilled, it only takes about five minutes.

4. Using Inkjet Printer Refills Will Void My Printer's Warranty

An inkjet printer refill would have to found directly responsible for causing damage to your printer in order to void your printer's warranty, something that is highly unlikely. The truth is that many manufacturers try to intimidate people into spending more money than they have to on new cartridges in order to make more money for themselves. Any lawyer could tell you that most of these warranties are total violations of consumer protection laws. Bottom line, using refills instead of new cartridges is not going to void the warranty on your printer.

You really can save a lot of money by refilling inkjet cartridges instead of constantly buying new ones all the time. Refilling your cartridges may take a little more effort, but not much more. It really is an easy way to save money.
