Don't Let A Tight Budget Spoil Your Wedding Plans

Jan 27, 2008
A wedding is always the beautiful ending to single blessedness. Couples want the best for their weddings, whether it's a simple or lavish one. Unless you're earning megabucks, you can have the dream wedding of the century. But what if you're just a simple wage earner? Should a tight budget spoil your wedding plans?

Wedding Planning Around a Budget

After the announcement of their engagement, a couple can start planning for their wedding. They'll be surprised that there are numerous things to go through. They have to stay focused. There's the budget to decide on, the date of the wedding to set, and, of course, the essentials that'll make the wedding truly memorable for them have to be painstakingly planned.

What are you going to spend on? If budget does not allow for a wedding planner who'll do all the grunt work, you'll have sit down with your partner and your families and closest friends. Ideas can be mined from a cozy afternoon get-together, so this means you've got to schedule your wedding months ahead.

Help from family and friends, will keep you sane and avoid the attendant stress that goes with wedding planning - from deciding who is going to foot the bill, date of the wedding, and reception venue to groomsmen and bridemaids gifts and other wedding tokens. Expect some disagreements, but try to have fun and spend more time as an engaged couple.

The list of things to do is just overwhelming. That's why it's always best to plan for the big day months before. When you've decided on your budget, start collecting telephone numbers of service providers. Call them and ask for quotes. Compare their prices and the freebies these providers can give away as part of the deal.

Wedding Ideas To Stretch The Budget

Don't hire a wedding planner. Organize a group of family members and close friends to help you. Assign different teams to handle the simpler tasks to work on, such as scouting for affordable wedding invitations or making these themselves, shopping around for wedding tokens with the price range you've decided, shopping for photography and videography experts, coming up with a program for the reception, manage wedding rehearsal preparations, and organize parties. Make sure, though, that all final decisions are made by you.

You and your partner will be able to dwell on the more important details like the venue, wedding attire and selection of rings, guest list, choice of wedding and reception music, honeymoon, newspaper announcement of the engagement, and the wedding itself.

To stretch the budget, here are some useful tips to follow so you can have everything a wedding should have without cleaning out your pocket:

1. Rent a tux and a wedding gown, as well as the wedding entourage's outfits.

2. Have the reception in your home.

3. Start shopping around early so you can get the best deals.

4. Choose simple party fare that everybody loves.

5. Rent or borrow a good sound system for the reception, and hire a DJ and emcee to tackle the program and party. You can also let a family member or a friend do the job, though you'd probably rather they enjoy the party, right?

6. Choose personalized wedding tokens to show your appreciation for everybody in the bridal retinue.

7. Choose the flowers that are in bloom and abundant in the area for your bridal spray.

8. Do your shopping online and use some coupons if you can.

With these budget-watching tips, you'll have everything a meaningful and memorable wedding should have. Remember, it's your special day to be shared with loved ones and friends. It's the moment and the memories that'll count, so don't let a tight budget spoil your wedding plans.
