Suggested Ways To Avoid A Home Evasion

Criminals are realizing it's easier and safer to commit a crime of home invasion tan holding up a convenience store. The rewards are also "much greater".

Intruders are aware most home dwellers are not thinking about someone forcing their way into their home. This gives the intruder the advantage.

One reason home invasions are on the increase is simply because it's a mater of criminal economics...where else can a criminal get so much under one roof.

Suggested ways to avoid a home evasion

Keep all doors locked whenever possible. Leave a spare key with a neighbor or with someone in case someone in the family is lockout. Add security devices to all doors and windows. Increase the strength of exterior doors with a solid composite. Install a peep hole and use it before opening the door. Make sure you have proper lighting at night to allow you to be able to see. You may also want to add a surveillance camera at the entry of your home to make it easier to identify the person at the door, without having to be so close to a possible intruder.

Never open your door to strangers. Making sure that your doors are always locked and utilizing secured locking mechanisms will assist in your safety. If you feel that you are at any risk it is important to notify the police immediately. They could leave your front door and go to someone else's.

Always keep the window coverings closed especially at night. If you have windows that do not have a window covering make sure this window is never left unlocked like a kitchen window. Exposed windows can tell the criminal about some of the contents in your home and how easy or difficult it can be to access your home.

Never appear to be home alone. Make sure you have the Television or radio on, use your home as if everyone is there. The fewer people home makes it a simpler opportunity for your home to be invaded.

There are ways for you to protect you and your family from a home evasion.

* Install motion sensors for outdoor lighting. When there is movement around the outside of your home the light will come on and alert you to a possible intruder.

* Installing complete home security system to monitor all doors and windows will help in providing a higher level of protection when armed. Home security systems come in several choices from a specific need with different levels of pricing.

* The installation of specialty cameras can deter an intruder by recording their attempts to monitor your daily activities prior to the crime.
