Is Coca Cola A Memory Super Charger?

Jan 31, 2008
There have been a lot of negative reviews of the effects of consuming coffee, tea or even eating chocolate bars because of the amount of caffeine that these foods contain. There might be a light at the end of the caffeine tunnel though and that's how caffeine could play an important role in boosting your memory.

It's pretty common for you to experience some sort of short term memory loss. It might be where are your car keys or did you leave the faucet running or did your lock the door before going to work. These sorts of things play on our mind and in some cases you may be so worried you drive home from work or call a neighbour to check or you need to go and re-check the faucet is turned off.

We all lead hectic lives and it's easy in day to day activities to forget things occasionally. It might be our minds don't compute as well because of other distractions or concerns. This is by no means rare and at some stage most people will experience this sort of memory loss regardless of age.

If you've become one of those people who can't quite put their finger on certain small details you once knew and it has now become a cause of concern for you, it might be the time to consider the benefit caffeine can provide in relation to short term memory.

Working on the heart and the brain caffeine acts as a stimulant to both. It give you that extra little boost to thinking more clearly. Sometimes you might have heard people say I feel more alert after I have had a coffee or a glass of cola. This is because the small amount of caffeine is just enough to make the brain just a little bit more effective.

A boost to memory can help us function better. For many people their work requires them to store information in their heads as well as on paper. So if they start forgetting things this can land them in trouble and indeed in some circumstances can even lead to more serious consequences such as legal action, or worse still accidents and even death.

A morning cup of coffee or tea at breakfast can be a simple but highly effective boost to the memory which might help see you through a hectic day at your peak. Also if you notice a drop in performance after lunch you might have a drink of cola or eat a small bar of dark chocolate as this will get your mind back on track when it starts to wander.
