5 Tips To Help You Deal With Acid Reflux

Feb 1, 2008
With so many people suffering from acid reflux the medication market has exploded. But do all these medications work? Sure some of them do for some people. Have you been able to find one that works for you yet? Even if you do find one that works will it have side effects. Some medications certainly do.

One way of dealing with your acid reflux condition is to take a look at your lifestyle. There are many people who have seen a drastic improvement with their condition just by improving their quality of life. Were going to look at a few changes that you can make that will help your condition.

Tip 1: Stop smoking: Smoking is a major issue for many acid reflux sufferers. Smoking can reduce the production of saliva. This is a big problem because your saliva helps protect the esophagus. If you are a smoking this means you are more likely to get acid reflux.

Tip 2: Stop eating spicy foods: Allot of people with acid reflux are very sensitive to strong spices. You may have to give up on Mexican foods, Italian foods, and any other of your favorite dishes. If you can find away to make them with less spice then give that a try.

Tip 3: Stay comfortable: Your clothing can play a role in acid reflux. Your heartburn is more likely to be more sever when you are wearing tight belts or pants. Its important that you stay comfortable and still stay within your dress code.

Tip 4: Stay away from fried foods: The big problem with fried foods is that they are highly greasy. Greasy foods do not agree with someone who has acid reflux. Your going to have to be careful as to where you eat out and how they cook their foods. As ab alternative you can eat grilled foods much easier.

Tip 5: Keep stress to a minimum: There are allot of bad things that come from stress. A high stress level can cause your stomach to become upset and can give you heart problems. When you feel stressed just stop what you are doing. Take a few minutes to breath and calm yourself down.

Making these sorts of changes wont be easy. This is particularly true if you really like something. For example: it wont be easy to give up your daily coffee. In the end you have to make a choice to either suffer or get relief.
