How To Get Your Ex Back Without Looking Too Crazy

Feb 7, 2008
Regardless of who dumped who, if you want your ex-girlfriend back you are going to have to accept some realities of life and experience some personal growth. Since you are the one who wants her back, you are the one who has to initiate some changes, be truthful with both yourself and her, and stop behaving immaturely. Even if both of you were wrong, it is noble of you to be the first one to admit it. She will probably soon follow suit.

First of all, once you have your ex-girlfriend's undivided attention, you are going to have to level with her. You can't do that without laying all of the cards on the table. So you have to tell her the whole truth about everything that caused the break up. Don't hold back here. Some couples "talk around" a subject and try to ignore the 3,000 pound pink elephant in the room. Don't be afraid to speak directly about the main issue that caused your breakup. If you don't address it, a true reconciliation is impossible. For example, if your ex-girlfriend's best friend caught you hanging out with another girl, causing the breakup, you want to immediately address that issue truthfully.

When you tell the truth, it gives your ex-girlfriend a better understanding of why you two were going through your issues. It takes a big man to admit his wrongs. If you really want to re-win her heart, don't just tell her, show her that you are truly changing by being willing to come clean.

Have you ever been pressured into doing something that you were still unsure about? Maybe it was a business deal, or an expensive purchase at an electronics store. If so, you know that sometimes pressure can make you want to run away and become skeptical, rather than bringing you closer to an idea.

If you demand that she makes a decision immediately, you are only going to make her even more confused. If pressured enough, she will probably choose to just let you go. So give her time to consider your plea. State your case and then give her room. She'll appreciate your consideration, and is more likely to give you another shot.

Your ex-girlfriend will be suspicious if you ask her to go out on a date at a bar. Why? Because bars equal drinking and the potential for getting drunk. If in the process of winning her back you seem to be trying to get her in a compromising position, she will think that you are just trying to take advantage of her. The same is true if you invite her over to your apartment for drinks. She may think you have an ulterior motive.

If you are really serious about getting your ex-girlfriend back, you will spend quality time with her and give her the space she needs. Pressuring her won't work. Talk to her with respect and be open about your past relationship woes. You may not only win her back, but also develop a stronger relationship than you both had before.
