Underlying Cause Of Snoring

Feb 17, 2008
REM sleep or Dreaming sleep is something which is associated with snoring. Why snoring takes place is an interesting subject and a lot of research has been done on this. We will be discussing snoring in this article.

What happens during our sleep is somewhat related to what happens to our body when we are awake. The tiredness in our body causes an emotional stress which in turn gets stored in our muscles.

Think about it. When you get angry, isn't your tendency to make a fist with your hands. Even if you don't intend to hit anybody. It's part of our unconscious body language and our bodies do it automatically.

It's estimated, the tone of our voice and our facial expression counts for at least 80% of our total communication. The words we use count for less than 20%.

Sometimes, we don't want to show how we really feel. We try to consciously control our voice and facial expression. This is the poker face, the stone face or the superficial nice face, we sometimes have to put on. A customer service representative can't scream at their clients, even if he/she is raging inside.

Every time we freeze our feelings like that, they're stored in our muscles, throughout our body. This affects the muscles around the breathing passages more than any other muscle group.

When we fall asleep, this muscle tension blocks the breathing passages. That's what causes early night snoring. As our sleep deepens, these muscles relax a little and the snoring often stops for awhile.

When we are in light sleep, it is called as REM sleep. This is the segment where dreaming occurs. When we are in the REM sleep, we amalgamate all the informations and experiences we had the previous day. Our subliminal takes all the sentiments that are stored in the body muscles. Just think what would be happening to the muscles while this is going through.

Sadly, the tension doesn't get released from our muscles during REM sleep. The conclusion our subconscious makes, may even be that these muscles need to be kept tense to freeze any emotion the following day. This can make the snoring trouble even worse.

When we are in our REM sleep the emotional process activates our muscles which is a important thing for us to know. Due to this our breathing passage gets blocked and this causes snoring. Usually we go to REM sleep 2-3 times a night. This is the main reason why early morning and late night snoring is usual.

So what's the way out? At present there are two ways to get rid of the fundamental reason for snoring...

1) If you are polite and non hasty than less poignant pressure is stored in the muscles. A happy attitude is required every time which is the key to well being. Indulging in hatred is like taking poison and thinking that this will kill your enemy. Showing your way of thinking realism reasonably releases and integrates the experience immediately, so your subliminal doesn't encompass throughout the night.

2) When we are exercising with tongue, throat and jaws then it helps in releasing the tension from our muscles. Many of us have been creating muscle tensions for years so now it is required to excavate down and untie up these muscles. This exercise will help in stopping of the early night snoring as well as the REM sleep snoring.

I suggest that both the tactics should be used.

It's a shame, the most common methods used to deal with snoring only address the most obvious symptoms. Usually even if the symptoms disappear for a while, the real underlying cause gradually gets worse. This unavoidable makes the snoring reappear, louder than ever. The only way to permanently cure snoring is to deal with the true underlying cause.
