Curbing Middle Age Spread

Feb 21, 2008
Weight Loss is a passion of mine that I have recently taken up to curb middle age spread unfortunately my past life is now catching up with me. As you reach that big hump you start to notice your belly is growing in proportion to your age, which for some can be quite disserting. There are millions of options out there to help you loose those pounds but which to choose.

I will run through a couple of things that will help you maybe take that first difficult step to restart your life and get your blood pumping again. For me the initial thing to motivate you is a life changing event where you say to yourself enough is enough I need to take steps to change. In these circumstances for some it will mean a near death experience or perhaps something not quiet that serious. Many people simply take the advice of their doctor and use that for the change. But the truth is nobody can make you and changing your life style is like giving up smoking, because take it from me laziness is addictive.

For me my life changing event was when I got in a tussle chasing a shop lifter, I wont bore you with details suffice to say that It was a very difficult situation for me because as it happened I was completely distraught and out of breath. I have been living the easy life, home from work TV, BEER, Dinner, sleep up for work in front of the computer, home, TV, beer, takeaway sound familiar! Off coarse it does because many, many people have the same problem they can't find time for exercise.

After my life changing experience, I had a serious think about my spiral and decided enough was enough, I made a decision then and there to exercise everyday. I know what your thinking "IM TOO BUSY" that's what my wife said, well here what I suggest to get your first bit of exercise, wake up hour early, yep that's it as easy as that set your alarm 30 minutes earlier and get moving straight away. Choose a walking strip that is pleasant yet has as little amount of pollution as possible and walk 15 minutes as fast as you can one way then turn around and walk back. I always think that it is best to be walking towards a goal perhaps the morning newspaper from the local shop.

With a goal in mind it will make your walk that much more enjoyable and you will achieve a goal every day. Now if your newspaper shop is next door simply go the long way, seem stupid doesn't it but the simple act alone of getting 30 minutes exercise a day will provide a starting block to getting rid of that hard to budge middle age spread and fill you with some great fresh air to get your mind and body going. The important thing to remember when starting out like this is to go even when the weather is bad.
