What Makes Molokai Different?

Feb 21, 2008
Deciding where you will call home upon your arrival to Molokai can be a tough decision. There are numerous resorts, hotels, condos, and beachfront homes for rent. Most of your choices will leave you dealing directly with the owner as most businesses are family owned and operated. The choice that you make will determine which side of the island that you will visit. The people of Molokai are very spiritual and believe that their island is protected by spiritual powers. The history of Molokai will be explained to you so that you can better understand that Molokai was originally established as a place of refuge for those with leprosy, hence why the Father Damien tours are so very popular among Hawaiian visitors. Visitors can reach this secluded area which was at one time was nearly impossible to reach by mule. Tours are provided. The natives will be sure to inform you that a goddess of Molokai is the one who gave way to the idea of hula. Molokai has many natural wonders including some black sand beaches, rain forests, ancient temples, and numerous kukui tree blossoms as it is the islands official flower. Molokai hosts a special place that is a uniquely shaped stone known as the stone of fertility as natives truly believe that if a woman spends the night on that rock she will become fertile and become pregnant. There is truly no where else that one could go that is comparable to Molokai. No fast food restaurants or traffic lights, nothing but miles of natural beauty to enjoy. If you want to indulge in snorkel, sail, dive, swim, bask in the sun, or just relax in the tranquil sounds of nature, it is best to stay on the east side of the island. Molokai gives you a sense of inner peace and tranquility. The views of Molokai are breathtaking to say the least regardless of whichever time of the year that you might decide to visit. Although the winter months are going to allow you see the mating and breeding of the humpback whales. The hiking will captivate you, the beaches will awe you, the snorkeling will bewilder you, and the sun will warm you. It is simply amazing. While you are visiting Molokai you will be able to visit the other islands by helicopter ride or by boat but it is certain that you will want to return to Molokai to unwind and relax because there is no where else that you can visit that can cover every angle of what a visitor might want on a vacation which is why this choice of islands is not only glamorous but educational as well. The touch of ancestry and tranquility that Molokai puts forth can not be measured. The natives are so very hospitable and stand firmly on their beliefs in which they are more than willing to share with the many tourists that visit each year. They love to sit around and share stories of years ago and why Molokai is unwilling to compromise their ways.
