Website Promotion In A Box

Feb 25, 2008
Website promotion is a high ticket online item. Small businesses are tired of non-existent to very small amounts of traffic and sales, point at which they look for the ones that know website promotion, the promotion agencies, and actually pay them high amounts of money for their services.

There is nothing wrong with that, however, web site promotion is something that anyone can learn and do without spending the massive fees that the web promotion agencies charge. All that it takes is being open to learning and applying what you learn. The information is available out there for them , ready to be grabbed.

The knowledge worth thousands of dollars can be easily summarized in a few paragraphs:

1. Your site is your main tool.

Search engine optimize your web site pages. Make sure your site is easy to navigate, content rich and the product that you sell is not more than 3 clicks from the entry point of the visitor

2. Your site is loaded with built-in marketing tools as: newsletter, autoresponder, bookmarking option, tell-a-friend script. The visitors has to become a buyer, a subscriber or a promoter of your site.

3. Implement the long term traffic systems instead of basing your whole online business on paid advertising. While PPC ads, ezine advertising and other paid web site promotion techniques work, don't forget that they will promote your site only for as long as you pay. More taffic over a longer period of time ( years) can be driven by the use of article marketing, blogging, social bookmarking and similar methods. Ironically, the long term traffic is also free.

4. Implement an affiliate program.

Affiliates are expensive our days. Some would not promote an affiliate product for less than 50% commission. However, one sale made by an affiliate is more money in your pocket compared to no affiliate sales at all.

Obviously these are only a few lines about promoting a web site. Everything one does for promoting his web site, that being an email marketing campaign, a banner ads campaign or any kind of campaign , is called promotion. And if you think about it: after the site is all set up, what else is the owner supposed to do? Pay big money to the promotion firms? No. His only worry should be marketing that site.

When it comes to promoting an online business, the old saying applies in full:

" Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
That's why, probably the best thing a webmaster can do is to learn how to do it himself instead of paying thousands of dollars to others to do it.
