Like so many canine breeds, the Dogue de Bordeaux's is rather vague. There are numerous theories spouted by breeding experts. Most believe the Dogue's existence came years before the Bull mastiff and Bulldog. Others believe all three breeds were being created at the same time. It is often believed that the Bulldog is he anchor (main breed) behind the Dogue de Bordeaux also known as the French Mastiff.
